Environmentally harmonious, clean, and safe scientific technologies to address energy needs, as well as pollution and climatic change, are the recent subject of much research. Photocatalysis, in which abundant solar energy could be harnessed, advances the development of sustainable, non-hazardous, and economic technologies. As shown below figure, in the past half-century, many scientists have studied the effect of UV-Visible light irradiation on various inorganic and organic semiconducting catalysts in relation to the decomposition of H2O to produce H2 and O2, degradation of various pollutants, organic transformation, CO2 reduction with H2O to produce useful substances, photo-induced super hydrophilicity, and dye-sensitized solar cells. Since then, many chemists have further investigated the development of various effective and efficient photocatalytic materials, especially, which decompose H2O into H2 and O2 under sunlight irradiation with high efficiency and their practical realization is just around the corner.

In my lectures (Nov. 8th and 22nd) I will explain a history of research progress in photocatalysis and photocatalytic materials for your further development and breakthrough achievement to enhance the real application of photocatalysis for future generations.

报告人简介:

Masakazu Ampo(安保正一)教授是国际著名的光催化学者,被誉为固体表面光化学研究的先驱者。曾担任国际催化理事会理事,也是亚太催化学会的创始人之一,为催化科学和技术的发展做出了重要贡献。2008年成为首个亚洲籍欧洲科学院院士,2011年入选日本科学委员会委员,获2021年度中国政府友谊奖。曾任日本大阪府立大学常务副校长,现担任日本大阪公立大学名誉教授、beat365正版唯一官网特别荣誉教授、能源与环境光催化创新引智基地海外学术大师。先后出版110本书籍、发表540篇原创论文,累计引用超过3万次。
